What is a photo card driving licence? Its an identification card that contains a photograph of the cardholder. The photograph is usually printed on the card itself, or on a separate piece of paper that is laminated to the card. Photo cards are used for a variety of purposes, including driver’s licenses, passports, and employee identification cards.
In the United Kingdom, the photo card is a type of driver’s license that is issued to all first-time applicants and to those who renew their licenses after 10 years.
It contains the same information as the paper license, and what does it include – the holder’s name, address, date of birth, and driving record.
The card also has a photograph of the license, as well as a signature & is valid for driving in the UK for up to 10 years & renewal at the DVLA.
The photo card was introduced in 1998 in an effort to reduce fraud and increase security.
Since then, there have been a number of issues with the cards, including problems with the quality of the photographs and the signatures.
In addition, some people have had their cards refused when they attempt to use them as identification at airports or other security checkpoints.
Despite the issues with the photo cards, they remain an important part of the UK’s driver licensing system.
