Driving Licence Record of Points are recorded if your drivers are convicted of a traffic offence, the courts can punish them as well as “endorse” their driving record with penalty points. These endorsements must remain on their driving record for a minimum of four years and a maximum of eleven years. This is determined by the nature of the offence committed.
If you accumulate 12 or more penalty points in a three-year period (6 penalty points in two years for new drivers), you may be prohibited from driving. Speeding is a common cause of penalty points; if any of your drivers is caught speeding, the minimum penalty is a £100 fine and 3 points on their licence.
